Summer Term

In Summer term we give the students the chance to take part in a revue or cabaret style show. In 2006 it was Jazz Café that won the student voting. Click on the pictures below to see what we got up to!

In 2007 the chosen theme was Horror and Comedy - so the Mni Rocking Horror Show was created by all three companies featuring ballet dancing vampires, the sad story of Billy Frankenstein, Vicky Pollard confronted by zombies and much much more!

Spring Term

Spring Term is usually an opportunity for each Company to perform their own selection of scenes and songs from a show or based around a theme. At the start of term we give the students a number of options and they choose what they would like to do.

High School MusicalBlood BrothersThis spring we are planning to do two larger scale shows however! High School Musical and Blood Brothers. Students will be able to choose which production they want to take part in!

In 2007 we performed "Magic of the Mini Musicals" with each group performing scenes and songs from a show. Our little ones entertained with "Mary Poppins", Company B eased on down the road with some extracts from The Wiz and Company C released the LIttle Shop of Horrors upon us!

Autumn Term

Autumn Term is our Big Show Term. Past shows include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and Bugsy Malone, the Gangster Musical famous for its use of splurge and custard pies! This term, we plan to do Lionel Bart's "Oliver!"

We start out by learning some of the songs, a dance and some audition pieces, and then hold an informal no-pressure audition in week 2 or 3. It's then down to the hard work of learning all of the big numbers and set pieces up to half term, each age group spending time individually with each teacher as well as some shared time to work on large set pieces.

After half term, we work on all of the scenes and anything we haven't yet set, as well as constantly going over the production numbers. This goes on until week 9 or 10 when we start to run the production as a show, and tidy up as we go along. Week 11 is our first dress rehearsal and the show is in week 12, after a tech/dress rehearsal at the theatre.

Of course, on top of this there's a costume fitting or two, make-up and all kinds of other fun!
